About Us
Cairns Discovery Tours is a local tour company, personally owned and operated by myself, Maryanne Jacques. Having traversed various parts of Australia before settling in Cairns in 1995, I now proudly call this vibrant city my home. With over 40 years of dedicated experience in the tourism industry, I bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to every aspect of our tours.
My journey with Cairns Discovery Tours began in 1997, where I spent eight years immersed in sales before venturing into the creation of my own tour company, Adventure North Australia, in 2005. Specializing in excursions to Cooktown and Indigenous cultural experiences, Adventure North Australia thrived under my guidance until its sale in May 2019.
In 2012, an exciting opportunity arose when the previous owner of Cairns Discovery Tours decided to sell. Eager to preserve and build upon its legacy, I enthusiastically took ownership of the company. Since then, Cairns Discovery Tours has flourished, becoming a cherished gem in the crown of Tropical North Queensland.
Our tours offer a captivating introduction to the wonders of Cairns and its surrounding region, designed to captivate travelers of all ages and interests. Central to our success are our experienced local guides, Chris and Graeme, who infuse each journey with their deep-rooted passion and extensive knowledge of Cairns.
